About Iziah Carthens
Mr. Carthens has built a career that spans more than 25 years of military service and continued work in support of national defense. His professional path began in 1994 when he joined the U.S. Army. After completing training at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, he began his service as a missile maintenance repairer in Lawton, Oklahoma.
During the early years of his career, Mr. Carthens gained experience working with missile systems and maintenance operations. He served in South Korea as a missile maintenance repairer before advancing to missile systems technician roles in Texas. These assignments helped him build a strong technical foundation in electronics, maintenance, and logistics support.
As his career progressed, Mr. Carthens accepted leadership positions across several locations around the world. From 2000 to 2005, he served as a senior missile systems maintenance supervisor in Germany. He later worked as a senior electronics instructor and writer in Alabama, where he trained and mentored other service members. In 2008, he became a senior drill instructor in Oklahoma, where he played a key role in preparing recruits for military service.
Mr. Carthens continued to advance through the ranks. From 2010 to 2014, he served as a senior missile systems supervisor in Washington state. He later worked as a senior logistics manager in Hawaii from 2014 to 2019. During his military career, he served across several regions, including the Middle East, Europe, the Pacific, Korea, Hawaii and the United States. He retired from active duty in 2019 with the rank of sergeant first class. This marked one of the most meaningful milestones of his career.
After retiring from the Army, Mr. Carthens continued his service as a federal employee. Since 2019, he has worked as a general equipment specialist with the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command. In this role, he supports equipment systems by resolving logistical and technical issues, assisting with repairs and recommending solutions to maintain operational readiness. His work often includes mission-related travel abroad in support of military operations and defense programs.
Mr. Carthens also launched his own business, Sun City Scrubs LLC, in 2024. Through this online company, he provides medical apparel while continuing his government service. In addition to his professional work, he supports charitable causes by donating to the Combined Federal Campaign and to a Native American school in Montana.
Education and Hard Work for the Foundation of Success
Education has remained an important part of his journey. Mr. Carthens earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in organizational leadership from Ashford University in 2014 and an Associate of Science in business administration and management from Excelsior University in 2017.
Mr. Carthens later completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in criminal justice and law enforcement administration and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia Southern University. In 2023, he earned an Associate of Arts in logistics, materials, and supply chain management from American Military University and is pursuing an executive doctoral certificate at Liberty University.
Mr. Carthens credits his success to hard work, his faith, and the support of family and friends. He believes that professionals must continue setting goals and remain willing to step outside their comfort zones to grow in their careers. Looking ahead, he plans to continue supporting defense programs, expand his business, and pursue new professional milestones.
