Marquis Who’s Who is recognizing Arvind Telharkar, a software engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) whose career spans a decade of technical evolution, for his current focus on the innovative marriage of artificial intelligence and healthcare. Mr. Telharkar has used his academic foundation and problem-solving skills to carve out a unique professional path.
About Mr. Telharkar
Mr. Telharkar’s pursuit of academic excellence began in India, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014. He then shifted to the United States to specialize and earned a Master of Science in computer science from North Carolina State University in Raleigh in 2016. His educational background provided him with the data structure and algorithmic fluency that he would later need in the technology sector.
Mr. Telharkar soon found his place at Citrix in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he served as a software engineer from 2016 to 2018. He then joined Amazon, a company that had initially rejected him during his college years. He considers his acceptance to the company a milestone and views it as the result of his grit and determination.
For seven years, Mr. Telharkar worked at several international hubs, including Vancouver, British Columbia, before returning to Seattle. His early work at Amazon Alexa involved natural language processing. He also developed important metrics for skill developers to improve their consumer-based products.
Currently, Mr. Telharkar contributes to the health AI team at AWS. His most notable recent achievement was the development and launch of a healthcare data transformation platform that uses agentic AI. His solution, which was demoed at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) global healthcare conference, enables customers to convert their legacy healthcare data formats, such as C-CDA, into FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). By converting data into a more AI-friendly format, he has improved its accessibility, thereby improving patient care outcomes.
Mr. Telharkar was featured by Outlook India in 2025. Outside of his work at AWS, he is a technical writer and the author of the TechHopper newsletter. He has also built a significant professional community on LinkedIn, which has reached over 20,000 followers and generated millions of annual impressions. He uses his platform and status as a tech leader to share industry insights and to mentor younger students who are just entering the computer science field.
Using His Experience to Make a Difference
As someone who has lived and worked in India, Canada and the United States, Mr. Telharkar credits his multicultural background and personal perseverance as the forces behind his success in his chosen field and his vision for the future of technology. Looking ahead, he plans to transition into an executive role over the next five to 10 years.
Mr. Telharkar is seeking a broader business and decision-making position, with his eye on becoming a director. While he acknowledges that technology is the bedrock for innovation, he believes his understanding of technical gaps will make him a strategic decision-maker.
Outside his professional life, Mr. Telharkar is an accomplished musician. He holds a Grade 5 certificate in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada and continues to pursue advanced diplomas. He is also an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hiking and exploring new places during the summer months.
