Marquis Who’s Who honors Joann Maynard for her entrepreneurial spirit. Ms. Maynard is a seasoned executive with 24 years of professional experience and serves as the executive vice president and chief operating officer for Wright Construction Group LLC, a rising federal contractor based in Austin, Texas.
By tapping into her diverse background spanning human resources, finance and operations, and in collaboration with the chief executive officer Bernard Wright and the chief financial officer Roberto Flores, Ms. Maynard has played a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s oversight and growth from a $3 million organization to $26 million in just one year. They now aim to transform it into a billion-dollar enterprise.
About Ms. Maynard
Ms. Maynard’s career was shaped by a powerful combination of academic studies and hands-on entrepreneurial success. She earned an Associate of Arts in accounting in 2012 and an associate degree in business administration and management in 2017, both from Pikes Peak State College.
Ms. Maynard also earned a Bachelor of Science in human resources management in 2018 and holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, earned in 2020.
A highlight of Ms. Maynard’s career was the eight years she spent as an owner-operator of multiple Auntie Anne’s franchises across Colorado and Arizona. Her experience in managing all four locations and overseeing everything from personnel to finance gave her a deep, well-rounded and real-world understanding of business operations.
It also helped her to forge the strong leadership skills that would later become the bedrock of her success in corporate life. Ms. Maynard felt that her varied leadership roles prepared her well for her current executive responsibilities.
Making an Impact
Currently, Ms. Maynard is focused on leveraging technology to maintain a lean, efficient company structure. Early on, she recognized the limitations of fragmented human resources solutions, which led her to develop a comprehensive, fully customized Human Resource Information System (HRIS) designed to streamline everything from “hire to retire.” It also integrates automation and AI to help increase productivity while still maintaining a smaller team. Her innovative approach to business management reflects her personal interest in modernizing industry standards.
Ms. Maynard credits her success to several factors, including her entrepreneurial mindset, solution-oriented thinking and guidance from her mentors. She maintains that criticism should be viewed as a tool for better self-improvement, a lesson she learned early on from her high school soccer coach.
Looking to the future, Ms. Maynard has committed herself to building Wright Construction Group into a powerful and well-respected firm. She feels that ambitious goals, even those that might seem unlikely at the start, can be fully realized through a combination of ambition, perseverance, and partnerships.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Maynard values spending quality time with her family, a major motivator in her continued drive for improvement and achievement. She also dedicates her time as a ministry partner with Revealed Love Ministries and has volunteered with various nonprofit organizations.
