Seed funding supports new school partnerships, curriculum growth, and expanded AI literacy programs for students ages 6 to 14
Coco Coders announces the expansion of its AI and coding literacy programs following a $x2.5 million seed round led by Homegrown Capital. The funding supports the company’s plans to grow its school partnerships, expand AI literacy offerings for children ages 6 to 14, and scale access to live online technology education programs across the United States.
The company has grown from $500,000 in annual recurring revenue (ARR) at the time of the May 2024 raise to $1.5 million in ARR two years later. The growth reflects rising demand from parents, educators, and schools seeking technology-focused learning opportunities for younger students as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly important part of daily life and future workforce preparation.
The Seed Round included participation from Homegrown Capital Fund I, LLC (Lead), Amrock Ventures Limited (UK), Iowa Venture Capital Co-Investment Fund, Nevada Battle Born Growth Escalator, South Dakota Impact Fund 1, Wonder Fund North Dakota, and community investors through WeFunder.
Expanding Access to AI Education
Coco Coders operates a live, instructor-led subscription model that teaches children coding and AI concepts through rotating four-week, theme-based modules. The lessons connect technical skills to real-world industries and careers while emphasizing problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
The company currently serves students across all 50 states, the United Kingdom, and more than 10 countries. With the new funding, Coco Coders plans to expand its curriculum and strengthen partnerships with schools and education-focused organizations.
The company is also increasing its presence in Iowa, Nevada, North Dakota, and South Dakota, where state-aligned investment support has helped accelerate discussions around technology education initiatives and classroom partnerships.
Growing Demand From Families and Schools
As conversations around AI continue to expand across education and business sectors, schools and families are looking for ways to introduce students to emerging technologies earlier. Coco Coders positions its programs as an accessible option for students who may not otherwise have exposure to coding or AI literacy opportunities.
The company’s growth reflects a broader shift in how parents and educators view technology education. Rather than treating coding as a niche extracurricular activity, many families now see AI literacy and computational thinking as foundational skills for future academic and career pathways.
Elizabeth Tweedale, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Coco Coders, said the company was designed to help children understand the technology shaping the modern world rather than simply consume it. She noted that the increasing interest from schools and parents, alongside rapidly emerging new legislation, demonstrates a growing awareness of the importance of early technology education.
Investor Support and Future Plans
Investor participation in the Seed Round reflects continued interest in the K-12 AI education sector and in scalable education models that combine live instruction with online delivery.
Coco Coders plans to use the funding to expand its teacher network, deepen curriculum development, and increase its school-based programming. The company also intends to broaden outreach efforts to help communities introduce technology learning opportunities at earlier educational stages.
As the company continues to grow, its focus remains on building accessible pathways into coding and AI literacy for students with varying learning styles and educational backgrounds.
