The online platform pairs each partner with a separate family lawyer from a different firm, the safeguard that failed in her own agreement. Hundreds of couples have paid for the service since it launched in July 2026.
Prenup Australia, an online platform that lets couples prepare their prenuptial agreement together from home, says hundreds of couples have paid for its service in the three months since it launched in July 2026. The company was founded by Tan Watson, who is now graduating from law school at the University of New South Wales, and is built around the specific safeguard that failed in her own prenup.

The Safeguard That Failed
Watson was a single mother of two who had already been through an extremely difficult divorce. Her prenup had never been done properly.
She signed it without ever meeting the independent lawyer who was supposed to advise her, and in doing so gave up all her rights. She went on to spend around $250,000 trying to have the agreement set aside in court.
In Australia, a prenup takes the form of a Binding Financial Agreement. For the agreement to be binding, each partner must receive independent legal advice before signing. The requirement exists to ensure neither party signs without understanding what they are agreeing to. In Watson’s case, it did not protect her.
Back to Law School at 35
Rather than put the experience behind her, Watson did something most people would not. At 35, she went back to law school at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
She is now graduating, and has turned that experience into Prenup Australia.
How Prenup Australia Works
Couples prepare their agreement together through the platform from home. Each partner then receives independent legal advice from a separate family lawyer drawn from Prenup Australia’s panel, one for each partner and never from the same firm. The entire process, including legal advice and signing, takes place online.

Pricing is fixed. The agreement costs $890 per couple, and independent legal advice through the panel starts from $800 per partner.
Watson’s mission is that a prenup done properly should not be a luxury for the rich, and should not take thousands of dollars and months of waiting.
“It’s better to have a prenup and not need one than to need a prenup and not have one,” said Watson.
Prenup Australia is a document preparation service, not a law firm, and does not give legal advice. Independent legal advice is provided by the family lawyers on its panel, each acting for their own client.
