The open-source office suite is adding context-aware AI across its document, spreadsheet, presentation and PDF editors, while giving enterprise customers the option to fully control their AI integration.
ONLYOFFICE has released version 10.0 of its open-source office suite, introducing built-in artificial intelligence tools, four modular workplace apps and a broad set of security and performance updates.
The company says the release includes approximately 50 new features and more than 1,000 fixes across its online, desktop and mobile products. The most important change is a new AI layer that works directly inside documents, spreadsheets, presentations and PDFs.
Brand-new AI tools
A dedicated AI tab and chat interface allow users to draft, summarize, translate, format and analyze content without moving it into a separate service. In spreadsheets, for example, users can ask the assistant to create forecasts or pivot tables; in presentations, it can turn an initial idea into a structured deck and generate speaker notes. When it comes to PDF files, the assistant can generate summaries and remove sensitive information.
The update reflects a broader shift in business software as vendors tend to build generative AI into the tools employees already use. ONLYOFFICE’s approach is differentiated by deployment flexibility: organizations can select different models based on cost, speed and output quality rather than relying on a single predefined AI provider.
Cloud customers can use an ONLYOFFICE AI service powered by OpenRouter. Organizations running the software on their own servers can connect third-party or locally hosted models. That approach could appeal to businesses in regulated sectors, such as finance, healthcare, government and legal services, where sending confidential documents to an external AI platform may raise compliance concerns.
Users can also save prompts, create quick AI actions and build custom assistants for routine tasks. Those features are intended to move the product beyond one-off chatbot queries and toward automated document workflows.

Four New Modular Apps
Version 10.0 also adds four free modular apps to ONLYOFFICE Docs. The apps are licensed under AGPL v3 and cover AI automation, form-filling, file management and secure collaboration.
The AI Agents app provides intelligent search, personalized knowledge tools and extended reasoning through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. Forms handles data collection and can use AI to analyze responses, while Files centralizes document storage and access controls. Rooms supports secure collaboration, including virtual data rooms for confidential files.
The apps are enabled by default for cloud customers. Server users can install them with a single command, according to the company.

Updates Across Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations and PDFs
ONLYOFFICE also made a series of smaller changes across its editing tools.
The PDF editor can now remove metadata, recognize tables automatically, support customizable annotations and store reusable signatures. The document editor adds real-time cursor following for coauthors, more reliable right-to-left language support, and a “Keep with next” setting that prevents related paragraphs from being split across pages.
Spreadsheet improvements include faster performance for functions such as SUMIF and COUNTIFS, as well as formula hints and a more visible copy indicator. Presentation users get additional viewing and printing options, as well as the ability to export slides as GIFs or videos.
Other improvements include support for OFD files, the option to save spreadsheets in the older XLS format, conversion of SVG images into editable shapes and data tables for charts. ONLYOFFICE has also redesigned its plugin manager and added community integrations including the Antidote, Curly and Salesforce plugins.
Security Takes a Larger Role
The ONLYOFFICE team says version 10.0 resolves 35 security vulnerabilities. The company did not provide severity ratings or individual vulnerability identifiers in the announcement.
The update comes as businesses reassess the security implications of adding AI to everyday productivity software. While generative AI can help workers process large volumes of information, it can also create new risks around data leakage, model access and sensitive-document handling.
Giving server customers the ability to connect locally hosted models may help address some of those concerns, although organizations will still need to set their own access and governance policies.
Desktop and Mobile Changes
The desktop version of the suite receives a redesigned home page, updated template and cloud sections, Odoo integration and visual changes for Linux users. AI tools are available as an optional add-on in the Desktop Community edition.
ONLYOFFICE’s free iOS and Android apps now support additional AI providers, including Grok and DeepSeek. The mobile update also adds AI-assisted form filling and on-device voice input.
