NextSmartShip Launches Custom Packaging for Growing DTC Brands

New service offers custom packaging starting at 100 units, lowering barriers for growing e-commerce brands with flexible low-minimum-order solutions..

NextSmartShip, a global hybrid fulfillment and logistics provider, today announced the launch of Custom Packaging Solutions, a new service designed to make branded packaging and premium unboxing experiences more accessible to direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands of all sizes.

The launch reflects increasing demand from growing direct-to-consumer brands for flexible, branded packaging solutions that integrate seamlessly with fulfillment operations. The service helps businesses simplify packaging procurement, inventory management, and order fulfillment while delivering a consistent brand experience.

For many e-commerce brands, packaging has become an important part of customer experience, brand presentation, and post-purchase marketing. However, traditional packaging production often requires high minimum order quantities (MOQs), separate supplier coordination, and additional inventory management, creating barriers for smaller and growing brands.

NextSmartShip’s Custom Packaging Solutions are designed to address these challenges by integrating flexible packaging production directly into its global fulfillment network. By connecting packaging procurement, inventory tracking, warehouse storage, and fulfillment execution, the service allows brands to manage custom packaging as part of the broader order fulfillment process.

“As brands scale, packaging becomes more than a design decision—it becomes an inventory, warehouse, and fulfillment decision,” said William Yu, CEO of NextSmartShip. “This launch is designed to make custom packaging easier to manage across the full fulfillment lifecycle, ensuring that startups and scaling businesses aren’t priced out of premium brand presentation.”

The new service is structured into two tiers:

Lite Custom: Designed for startups, emerging brands, and market-testing campaigns, Lite Custom offers a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces, standard sizing, one Pantone color printing, and a 3–5 business day production timeline.

Premium Custom: Designed for scaling brands seeking greater customization and volume flexibility, Premium Custom supports full-color CMYK printing, custom dimensions, broader design flexibility, and an estimated 10–15 business day turnaround.

A key feature of the launch is inventory visibility. Instead of treating custom packaging as a separate external supply item, NextSmartShip enables custom packaging materials to be received, shelved, and tracked as active inventory alongside a brand’s primary SKUs.

The service supports a broad range of custom packaging and value-added materials, including custom mailer boxes, poly mailers, corrugated boxes, padded bubble mailers, thank-you cards, and custom protective padding. Eco-friendly and sustainable packaging alternatives are also available to support green shipping initiatives.

NextSmartShip’s Custom Packaging Solutions operate through a four-step framework:

1.Types & Sizes Selection

Selection of the right packaging solution for products — defining the best package type and sizes to suit specific needs.

2.Design & Confirm

Once the packaging concept is defined, mock-ups or sample visuals are prepared and shared for review.

3.Production & Procurement

Procurement and production of packaging materials — from cartons to inserts and printed elements.

4.Fulfillment & Delivery

Packaging is received, shelved, and tracked alongside product SKUs, then deployed directly in outbound fulfillment orders.

The service also supports advanced kitting and pre-pack assembly, allowing brands to consolidate supplier packaging and promotional inserts within a single fulfillment workflow.

NextSmartShip’s Custom Packaging Solutions are fully operational and available across the company’s global fulfillment network as of June 2026.
