NEW YORK, NY, September 9th, 2026, FinanceWire
Ascentivelab Group, a New York-based private capital markets firm, announced an expansion of its advisory work with commercialization-stage private companies, a segment that sits between the capital sources built to serve it.
The companies in this segment have largely answered the difficult questions. The technology works. Customers are paying. Contracts are signed and revenue is being recognized. What remains is commercial rather than technical, and the capital is being raised to scale a business that has already been validated rather than to prove that it can exist.
They are also difficult to finance. Requirements typically fall between $3 million and $30 million, which is well beyond the range of angel and pre-seed capital and below the check size most institutional funds can efficiently deploy and monitor. A fund managing a large pool has structural reasons to write larger checks into fewer companies. The result is a segment with real businesses in it and comparatively few sources of capital competing to reach them.
The types of companies the firm works with in this segment include, as examples, a defense sensing business operating under government contracts, a clinical-stage therapeutics developer, a medical device company preparing for commercialization, an industrial process technology business with contracted offtake, a founder-owned manufacturer approaching ownership transition, and an infrastructure asset with contracted revenue.
The work begins well before an investor is contacted. Financial statements, capitalization, customer and contract positions, technical progress and regulatory milestones are reviewed and organized so that a company arrives to a first meeting able to answer the questions that follow. A limited number of mandates is accepted at any one time.
Not every business needs the same answer. Some raise equity. Others are better served by debt against contracted revenue, mezzanine capital, a royalty or revenue based structure, or a recapitalization that lets an owner take value off the table without leaving. For some, the right outcome is a sale rather than a raise, and the firm runs sell-side processes on that basis.
What a company gains is access rather than volume. Ascentivelab Group maintains relationships with family offices, private equity firms, private credit funds, specialized investment funds and venture investors, built directly with principals and investment committees over the course of the team’s careers. A mandate is placed in front of the investors whose stated criteria it already fits.
“These are companies that have already answered the hard questions. The product works, customers are paying, and the work that remains is commercial,” said Deepesh Shivnani, Managing Partner at Ascentivelab Group. “What they have not done is become large enough for a fund with a very large pool to write them a check and staff the position. That is a question of fund mechanics, not company quality, and it is the reason this segment reaches investors through relationships rather than through auctions.”
Sector coverage includes digital infrastructure and data centers, energy and project finance, technology, healthcare, industrials, business and financial services, defense and military technology, and biotechnology, medical technology and life sciences, alongside specialized privately held assets including real estate positions, private collections and art holdings.
The firm’s activities are primarily focused on North America, with investor relationships and selected mandates across the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
According to company records, Ascentivelab Group carries between $100 million and $400 million in active sell-side and capital raising mandates at any given time, alongside origination mandates from family offices and adjacent investor groups in the hundreds of millions. The firm has advised on transactions representing more than $1 billion in aggregate transaction volume. Active mandates represent capital markets engagements currently being worked on by the firm. They do not represent completed transactions, capital raised, committed investment capital or guaranteed financing outcomes.
