Evolution Metals Unlocks Ten-Fold Magnet Capacity With New Equipment Delivery (NASDAQ: EMAT)

WSW, NY, October 19th, 2026, FinanceWire

Thirteen containers of ULVAC sintered magnet equipment reached the company’s Pohang plant on Thursday, with the remainder due by end of October. From January 1, U.S. defense contractors are barred from using Chinese-origin rare earth magnets, and by the company’s account the ten-fold expansion these machines drive would make it the largest rare earth magnet producer outside China.

On January 1, U.S. defense contractors stop being allowed to use rare earth magnets containing materials mined, refined, melted or produced in China, Russia, Iran or North Korea. The measure, DFARS 252.225-7052, reaches across the entire neodymium magnet supply chain, from the mine to the finished magnet, and because China still produces most of the world’s neodymium-praseodymium metal, the company expects the bulk of globally available magnet supply to become non-compliant overnight.

The countdown has eleven weeks left on it, and the replacement supply is arriving piece by piece. Evolution Metals & Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: EMAT) announced Thursday that it has taken delivery of the first thirteen of fifty-seven containers of magnet production equipment at Pohang, with the remaining containers scheduled to arrive before the end of October.

The containers carry the thirteen sintered magnet production machines ordered from ULVAC, the Japanese equipment maker the company describes as the global standard-setter for sintered magnet production systems. The machines were ordered under binding purchase orders in May on an accelerated schedule, against a standard ULVAC lead time of more than 24 months, and installation begins as each shipment lands. Once the machines are installed and commissioned, annual capacity is expected to grow from 1,000 metric tons to approximately 10,000, including 6,000 tons of high-performance sintered magnets, a ten-fold expansion the company says would position it as the largest producer of rare earth permanent magnets outside China.

Capacity is the constraint that matters

In this industry, grades and certifications are the entry ticket; installed capacity is the business. “Installed capacity is what turns customer demand into revenue, and that additional capacity is now arriving on site,” said Christopher Clower, the company’s chief financial and operating officer, adding that contracted equipment, secured power, qualified grades and compliant feedstock are “all converging.” Evolution Metals has qualified seven high-performance sintered magnet grades with Tier-1 original equipment manufacturers and says it has secured non-China sources of the neodymium-praseodymium metal that magnets are made from. By the company’s own estimate, its eight-grade sintered portfolio covers roughly three-quarters of global sintered magnet revenue and about half of global volume. Chief Executive Frank Moon put it more plainly: “This is about executing growth, not planning.”

Scale is the part buyers still cannot buy elsewhere. Every announced Western magnet project is racing the same January 1 clock, and most remain at the funding or permitting stage. Even MP Materials, the largest U.S. rare earth producer, is supplying General Motors under a long-term agreement (first deliveries began in September), which leaves defense primes, drone makers and automakers looking for a second producing source with capacity actually installed, qualified feedstock and shipping product.

The equipment still has to be installed, commissioned and ramped, the fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $400 million to $460 million that the company reaffirmed on Thursday rests on anticipated demand rather than contracted volumes, and the raised fiscal 2026 guidance of $10 million to $11 million carries the same caveat. However, the part that usually takes years, securing certified production machines from the industry’s standard-setter, is now landing on site ahead of a deadline that does not move, and policy pressure keeps compounding: the July executive order on defense supply chains made waivers much harder to obtain, and August brought a 100 percent tariff on sensitive foreign drones and key components.

Evolution Metals opens the expanded facility at a ribbon-cutting on December 17, with live magnet production running for investors, partners and government officials. Between now and then: forty-four more containers, installation crews, and a January 1 deadline that does not move.
